Fairly cheapNice form factorDrive +-6V (with an LED load)
Works with Linux (Ubuntu 9.10), it's detected as a pl2303 so should work with anything. Not sure how much more I can say about a USB/serial dongle, I plugged it in, and unlike some other, cheaper devices here, it drove the output fairly well.
This is a cheap little USB/Serial converter that has all the caps loaded for the charge pump. These are worth buying.Much better than sku.24512 as has decent output drive. cheaper than sku.5859

It is cheap and easy to install and you don't need a serial port anymore in your PC. Just had to download an another driver than delivered with the product. Really good for people who have a home network and are looking for a good cheap converter.
Definitely worth buying it for this price. Based on the prolific drivers. Was really surprised that it worked so good for this price.
If you are looking for a good cheap Serial to USB converter, don't hesitate and give this one a try.

Works fine with my Ubuntu 12.04 as well as my Windows computers and Mac.Plugged inn and immediately recognized, by all operating systems.connected and used with Cisco, Soekrsi, and and other embedded devices.
I miss the serial-ports on my computers.
If you are looking for a USB to serial this will probably make it work for you. I't worked for me.

Works.Desktop Linux works with 0 issues, plug in and go (tested with current Ubuntu 12.04 kernel 3.2.0-30-generic)Embedded Linux (HW:TS7800, kernel 2.6.21) doesn't work. http://tiagovaz.wordpress.com/2008/01/04/using-a-hl-340-usb-serial-adapter-against-2623-linux-kernel/ leads me to believe 2.6.24 is likely to be the earliest kernel that will work without manual work.Windows 7 requires some effort to grab the drivers. Unsure if the drivers will be found by windows update but https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=239e3a317a793bfb&id=239E3A317A793BFB%21233 got me the drivers I needed (run the installer in the Vista folder, not the executable you can find if you do down a different path)
    I like pie
    Cheap, works.
