usb reader Customers Reviews

  • Small, cheap and usefull reader.

    - It's small.
    - It fits most cards.
    - Nice and simple design.
    - Easy to use.
    - Fits SDHC cards up to 16 Gigabyte.
It's not very common with memory cards larger than 16Gb (yet), so most of the time this is enough.
A slim and robust card reader that takes little place and is light. You can fit almost all "modern" memory cards in it and it reacts fast while connected to the computer.

  • Great buy

    - Reads pretty much any 2D barcode out there
    - Reads are very fast. For best accuracy aim it at about 20 to 30 cm from the barcode
    - Works as a USB keyboard. No driver or software required.
    - Does not need configuration, the defaults are fine for most uses.
    - It can optionally send a prefix or suffix that indicates the type of barcode detected.
    - It can extend UPC -> EAN, and several other transformations.
I bought this to build a system to manage a library that we use at the office. Since it works as a keyboard programming for it is very easy. Since this types at superhuman speeds, using timing of the keystrokes can help in distinguishing input from the barcode reader from keyboard input.
You might want to scan the manual for a backup of the programming codes.
Great barcode reader for experimenting and general use.
  • It's great

    • easy to use: just insert your memory card and plug the device in the computer• raw file transfer is very fast• firmware updates easily (when requested)• good design protect the unit when in the field (pop up system)• reliable (Lexar has very good products) very high quality, very well built
A must accessory to have in bag of all photographers. I had a cheap card reader. After I bought this Lexar I saw the difference. Worth the investment.
Fast and convenient: small, easy to carrier, transfers in high speed.
  • Cheap and works partially, needs tinkering

This unit is cheap and it reads the cards I have, working on 125kHz. It has a simple construction and is easy to open up if you would like to modify it somehow.
Should come with information regarding output, voltage and much else. On the back it says "220V AC 12V DC", but by looking inside, it seems that it would be fried if you apply these voltages. It is powered by USB, so 5 volt DC ought to do it.
DX should also supply a RJ14 to a more "common" pinout, for those hardware-hackers who wants to interface it in other ways than by USB and RS232.
It also seems that the pins in use at the RS232-port are non-default. DB9 Pins 1 and 4 are in use for the data, the others are not used. I am not sure if it will work if you just connect it directly to your computer. I had to use an arduino to relay the serial data.
Works, sort of. Does its job.
Can be used for many interesting things.
    Flimsy but cheap.
Little documentation, be prepared to use some time on making it work like desired.
I have yet to be able to write to a card with this.
