The included lan-adapter uses the familiar AX88772B chip (DeviceID: VID_0B95&PID_772B). I'm writing this review from a cabled Microsoft Surface RT using the driver that went m.i.a. Rumors say the RT drivers will be back in Windows 8.1 but I had no problems finding, download and install the driver.
This chipset is also supported by several Android devices.More info on the RT driver issue:plugable.com/2012/12/11/windows-rt-surface-usb-ethernet-takedown
    A simple and useful "bundle".

the signal strength and stability has greatly improved from 2 to 5 bars, the product is good quality build and it does the job .I liked it because i can put it on the table ,and the cable is long so it can be moved easily. Comfast has made a very good product. Win xp has recoqnized it without drivers
I will recommend this for anyone who wants dongle with antenna , which can be replaced with larger one for even better reception
i am pleased with my purchase
  • Good, but Not Real Gigabit

Compact, easily carriableNicely built, feels sturdy, holds RJ-45 tightGood support on website, in English and with latest drivers
On my ASUS N56VZ, on board Qualcomm Atheros AR8161 gave 940Mbps on PassMark PerformaceTest 8.0's Advanced Network Test, UNITEK Y-3461 only gave 360MbpsThe website is good. No messing with foreign languages and had drivers even for Windows 8.1 (which is only 21 days old at the time of the review).Worked good on my home network, but went crazy on the company network. (I configured and wired both networks and both are gigabit.) I kept hearing Windows' USB plug in and plug out sounds when I plugged it in. I'm not sure if this should be a con because the problem only happened at work. My on board card works perfectly there but maybe my computer was just acting weird.
A good device. If your on board NIC is broken or you want a second NIC for geekiness, you can buy this. It does not provide the full gigabit speed, but still better than 100 megabit. The price isn't that bad either.
  • 1Gb for a small price

Cheap and fast. It copied data from my synology NAS at 100MB (mega byte) per second, including overhead, that's very close to 1Gb (gigabit) per second.I tried on with my apple macbook air and macbook pro.
    None, i love it.
If you want/ need wired network on e.g. A newer macbook, which have no ethernet adapter, don't bother buying an expensive apple adapter. Usb3 is capable of 1Gb and so is this device. It's great
