No need for an extra power supply, since it can be drawn from a free USB port.Works plug & play.
Very usefull product when you just installed a brand new harddrive in your laptop and forgot to take the data from the old ;-)
If you have an sata drive laying around eating dust and you have an esata port on your pc/laptop...just buy this one and you'll have a usable extra drive again

Works at expected speeds on both USB 2 and USB3. Simple to install HDD. Tested on multiple Linux, XP machines and one Windows 7 - no problems on any of my systems.
Not the most beautiful design, but simple, economical and practical.
If you have a 2.5" SATA laptop drive lying around, you should purchase this immediately.
  • Must have for reading old HDD

Good price point for this dock. Plug and play (on Linux). Hdd can easily fit. Support both SATA and IDE. (I bought this for the old IDE HDDs as there's no PC around to read them anymore. Now I have couple hundreds more GB to stash my ever increasing data...
There seems to be an issue with having multiple HDDs or cards in the dock. - When SATA HDD and IDE HDD are put it, only one of the drive can be mounted. - It could be power requirement, or could be the Ubuntu system I'm using No further investigation as I don't usually need them together.
    It works as intended.
  • Great case.

Having a spare hard disk taken from my notebook during the last upgrade, I have chosen to buy this cheap enclosure to make use of the 160 GB HDD as an external medium. The price is so low that it was really worth it. I was a little curios what comes. I was surprised very positively - it's a solid metal housing, the hard disk fits very well into it and it closes with no problem at all. Also the dual USB connector in case of higher power drain needed is a great plus. The packaging is quite professional and durable for any kind of transport.
Made of aluminium. Better than the plastic ones.
    Very good casing. All recommendations.
