  • Tiny little gadget with a huge power supply

    posted by Sciamano

    - It works (even in Linux, and even with EXT2/3/4 formatted hard drives)
    - It's tiny
    - It's neat
    - It's useful
It's a tiny little gadget that's very useful to test internal hard drives without opening the case and mounting them.
I actually bought it to use some spare internal HDs as USB drives, and it does its job.
The only disadvantage is the huge power supply unit provided. I'm actually thinking of pulling one 4-pin cable from the PC's PSU to the outside, via the unused floppy drive bay, and use that to power the drives up.
Pretty useful and working as described.
I would have liked an on-off switch on the power supply, so that one could swap drives without having to remove the plug, though.
Anyway, it works as it should, and it's price is ok (much lower than cradles, which only work with SATA drives, BTW)
  • Good product

It does what it supposes to do. The reason I bought it is to check up my extra netbook ASA HD I had some problems with so I needed to format and check the functionality. The adapter works like a pendrive with 2 USB connectors as one works as the AC connector and the other one to transfer the data.
It is a very useful tool and does what it supposes to do. Here in my country (Argentina) same product costs no less than 40 dollars so from that point of view it is a very good buying.
If you need to backup information from an ASA HD this is the tool you need to read the information like a pendrive; otherwise you will expend too much on a technician.
  • A little lifesaver

I't easily assembled. All the pieces go in the logical places, you stick one end in the wall socket, one end in the USB-port and all the stuff in the middle in your harddisk and you're good to go. A driver CD (Win98!) is supplied, but most computer work without it anyway.
And it supports one touch backup!
After removing a drive from my PC, I found out it contained important data. This piece of gear is a lifesaver...
A perfectly affordable temporary solution.Very handy to have one on the shelf.
  • Great Cable that works

    posted by kjtan

This cable enables me to use a DVD drive removed from the laptop without problem. The USB end is a great fit without being too tight or loose. The SATA end also fit snugly. No forcing of connection is required. No extra power supply is required to spin up the attached DVD drive.Upon access (data transmission) I can see that the speed of data transmission is as rated for the DVD drive, meaning the cable quality at least meet the required specification of a good cable. No problem with cable quality for data transmission. I have not tried it with a sata harddisk yet. But I am expecting a smooth sailing here.
Value for money. A quality cable that works without hassle. A difficult cable to find.
  • Good deal

    - It do exactly what it says, and more. - It work also with 3.5 HDD. - Is the one of the cheapest adaptors on the market.
    - Is good to connect both 2.5HDD and 3.5 HDD.- If you need a cheap SATA to USB adapter..... it could be a solution.
Good deal after all. It is working with my Seagate 3.5 HDD (750Gb - 7200rpm).
