  • Quite decent. Does what it says

Drives over 2,5 amp. Pieces look quite sturdy so it should last some good time.Good voltage input range. Using it on a vehicle for offroad light, so up to 18volts looks fine.At 12 volts and less it drives 2 series XM-L, possibly 3Get hot, but does not get *too* hot3 modes... I'd count it as a Con, but it is what I've bought, and already worked that around.
    none at the moment...
Works well, check it first, put sturdy wires.Good solid circuit for your mods.
  • A Handy Little Flashlight

    posted by cboulding

The Flash light has a Very Sturdy feel with a solid metal casing. The focus ring is a decent quality and produces and nice clean beam when fully focused. The battery adapter it comes with enables me to use 3 standard AAA type batteries which are easily available.
Its a very nice size for a handheld, not to small to handle but also not to cumbersome. The multiple functions are available but I have yet to find a use for them.
Overall I am happy with this flash light its perfect for use at work as well as walking around the dark fields where I live.
  • Very Bright.. Could be better.

Excellent design, with a nice deep aluminum mirrored reflector that matches the XM-L well. Probably one of the best designed tail caps for tail standing & grip too.Actually a pretty decent thrower for a large die LED. Obviously doesn't throw like a Q5 or R2, but the overall light output is three times as much as a these.Good O-Rings and overall construction.Mode memory works well.
If the stock driver is removed and a 8x AM7135 2.8A driver is installed, this light will be very impressive indeed. The replacement driver can be programmed to only three modes (H,M & L) and should provide a well regulated 700+ lumen output down to 3.6V.
Good single 18650 host for the XM-L emitter providing decent throw and masses of light on high. Really needs a driver transplant to take full advantage of a single 18650. My favorite (out of four others I now own) XM-L host. Soon to have a 8x AM7135 driver fitted.

-The machining and finish on this is almost perfect -Nicely balanced-O-ring and simple cord lanyard included -Hard anodized finish
    - I've been pleasantly suprised by the quality of the light.-It is a well made unit and definitely not a toy-13 days to Spain is pretty good too-With the four 18650 batteries installed, the UV-S5 weighs 512 grams (1 lb., 2 oz.) and it measures about 135 mm long by 65 mm wide at the head; too big for a pocket
During the daylight inside the house, the FandyFire UV-S5 seems powerful when it's turned on, but it's not really super impressive until you fire it up at night. Go outside and turn it on and it's absolutely mind-blowingly amazing -- by far the most powerful flashlight I have ever seen. It almost feels like the thing kicks back in your hand when you press the button!
  • Very bright

    posted by gizmo8500

The flashlight is very bright. I have just received 2 of these, and these are my first XM-L T6 lights. They are far brighter than other CREE lights that I own.3 Modes is great. Its about time DealExtreme offers a light with 3 modes instead of the 5 mode lights where you have to cycle through strobe and SOS which no one ever cares to use. The 3 modes are nice, I mostly use high or low since medium isn't that different from high. In low mode it is slightly dimmer than a cree The casing is well built. There are 2 O-Rings for the battery cap. The front screws off so that you can get to the glass, however it seems that the middle portion may be glued so that it won't screw apart. I saw in another thread for a similar flashlight that this may be done for better thermal transmission to the outer casing.
The thermal transmission seems good as the flashlight warms up quickly when in high mode. I don't leave it in high very long so i don't know how hot it will get and how well it would last in that mode.
Great light. From the 2 I bought, both seem equal in brightness and functionality so quality control seems adequate. I recommend it for anyone who likes a good flashlight.
