  • Interesting but not quite what I expected

    Essentially as described. Strong clip.
Tested with a 60 watt incandescent bulb and the solar cell puts out 1.5 volts at about an inch away. Falls to 1 volt at five inches and 1/2 volt at seven inches. The motor seems to need about 1.2 volts to start turning but will work on about 3/4 of a volt if already spinning.
Interesting gimmick. I bought three of these to use in an outdoor rabbit hutch. I'll probably end up hacking two together to make one that works in lower lighting conditions. I'll probably also modify the fan blades (or replace them) so they move more air.
I had one that arrived DOA so I took it apart. The solar cell works (CNSolarPower part #JGN55-P4B).
  • Cool Toy, Not Really Practical

-There's a fan on the hat. What's not to like about that?-The strap is velcro, which I prefer over the traditional clicky button things that wear out over time.-Solar powered, no need to replace battery.
Niche market due to its cons.
No point getting it. The breeze generated is insignificant. And it only runs in direct sunlight meaning you're getting beatened by the sun to run that fan. The opening doesnt provide shade either. If you're back is against the sun and must be out in the open, then I guess it's ok. Other than that, I dont see any other use for it.
  • Well finished hat but it requires a lot of sun!

If i look for the hat side, well it´s well finished. The cap/cover is a bit wider to hold the mecanism, but´s ok. Requires a lot of sun to power the engine.Buy this one instead of the white with logo (http://www.dx.com/p/stylish-hat-cap-with-solar-powered-cooling-fan-white-59510)

  • Works but could be a bit more powerful.

    - Easy to install.- Works - can feel air exhaust current when i place my hand at exhaust vent when the device is working.- Rubber seals useful in covering up peripheral gap in window when device is installed.- Plastic casing feels like it is bade from brittle plastic.
    - If you use this best you have window visors installed to prevent thief and help keep out rain.- Solar panels can be detached and repositioned (eg at dashboard) cos the sun does not always shines at the window side.
A but troublesome to install and uninstall device and seal strips when driving and parking. Device works but donno if it is because of the device or the big gap in the window that is keeping my car cooler (cos I mostly do not install the seal strips).

rather unusual purchase. interesting look. color is good, bright. by weight, does not differ from the usual. material form is not spoiled
how much will last - question. need a lot of light
until satisfied. size-fits. visor does not look great
