  • Does what it is supposed to do

A simple yet effective device to connect your old laptop harddrive to a sata (new standard) port. I have tried a few diffrent 2.5 inch harddrives and they all worked like a charm on all of my systems with sata drives
On some 2.5 inch harddrives there is a small piece of plastic in the way and dissallows you to fully press on the pata connector. I have done a bit of bending on the harddrive pins and it still works perfectly.
Great litte device for a correct price. Does the job fine and allows you to use small old harddrives in your new pc.
  • Works well, capable of at least 45MBps reads

Tested this with a 233x RiData CF card - Linux hdparm -t showed consistent 45MBps reads - most likely limited by the card itself. Was able to boot Ubuntu off the card etc. Build quality seems quite good. Very happy.
Be careful inserting CF card - easy to misalign and bend the tiny pins. If you want to boot Windows off of this do your research - by default it won't work with most CF cards. There are utilities that may be able to help if you want to boot Windows off this. Works great with Linux without doing anything special. Don't expect high-end-SSD speeds or longevity, but great for a small server where you mostly just use the CF for booting and don't write to it much.
I was worried this might not have great throughput (some SATA-to-ATA converters have terrible throughput and thought this might use one of those chips), but it went at full speed (sequential reads) with the fastest CF card I currently have. If you need solid-state storage that you'll mostly read from and want good speeds, this seems like a good choice.

An easy to use adapter. Just plug it on disk and connect to you SATA. Now I can recover such disks on any computer with SATA controller.
Cables are long enough for my particular needs. Connectors fits tightly enough to disk.

With this case, you can put another HDD on your notebook. An excellent choice for whose that w'd like to install a primary SSD disk for operaing system and a second drive as a storage.Considering that notebook normaly don't have more than one standard SATA connector, there`s a great idea to replace the DVD drive by this case.
A great alternative to install more than one HDD or SSD on a notebook.

    - It do exactly what it says, and more. - It work also with 3.5 HDD. - Is the one of the cheapest adaptors on the market.
    - Is good to connect both 2.5HDD and 3.5 HDD.- If you need a cheap SATA to USB adapter..... it could be a solution.
Good deal after all. It is working with my Seagate 3.5 HDD (750Gb - 7200rpm).
