sata power adapter Customers Reviews

  • GREAT gadget to those in need of a SATA connector!

The price is a bargain! This device is perfect for anyone who has a SATA HDD but doesn't have a SATA connector at all, or someone who has SEVERAL molex connectors and wants to install a spare drive.
Surprised no one has order this or made a review on this! I was surprised that it actual worked, I only order one to see how it does work and how it is. I honestly can say I plan on ordering a few more.
The price is a steal! I plan on order another 5-10 as I can find SEVERAL use in my custom computer, my power supply has a broken SATA connector so with my 4pins that are just laying around I now can use for my HDDs.
  • First shipment had bad cable -subsequent one works

Decent build quality. Cable is not too stiff like some others I have.
Because I received one bad cable I am a bit paranoid of the replacement. Perhaps they got a bad batch. Like I said, the replacement is working fine and the price is right.
  • Works to adapt SATA power to IDE

Very solid build. Works exactly as expected. Has been problem-free for me for well over 6-months.
I use this device when I need to connect an IDE device to a system that only support SATA. I have used it to supply power to an IDE hard drive and also an IDE DVD ROM drive. (I use it in conjunction with SKU 706 - SATA to IDE adapter.) These two devices have allowd me to connect an IDE drive when needed becuase I didn't have a SATA one handy. It is bult very well, so I have no problem with many connect/disconnects as I use it as a testing tool. But it would work as a "permanent" solution as well.
If you need an IDE style 4-pin power but only have the SATA-style power on your power supply, this device will adapt for you. Works very well and is solid. I recommend this device. Just note that it's long, so will require more space behind the drive you are connecting.

    - Supports 3.3V and 5V 1.8'' microSATA drives- easy to install and use
Be careful choosing this adapter, it fits only microSATA HDD/SSD drives, IT DOES NOT fit miniPCI-express, miniSATA or whatever else there is.microSATA is a smaller version of SATA connector for 1.8'' drives used in some ultra portable laptops/tablets. These drives can be designed to use 5V DC power input or 3.3V - this adapter fits both types. It apparently has internal voltage regulator which provides 3.3v input even if the SATA cable itself doesn't.
Adapter fits my toshiba hdd1f15 1.8'' 3.3v HDD and the drive seems to run OK. Good price for the useful product. I only hope it won't break too soon.
  • Great buy, no real complaints

Worked perfectly straight from the box with no issues regarding drivers or the like. Windows 7 recognized connected IDE drives with no hesitation, and transfer went smoothly. Build quality was adequate. I would recommend the gear.
Minimalist manual indicated the CD would be necessary for those running Windows 98, but wasn't needed for Windows 7. Presumably wouldn't be needed for XP or Vista, either, but haven't tested it myself.
Economical, efficient piece of gear with no serious issues: recommended highly.
