Works fine with my Ubuntu 12.04 as well as my Windows computers and Mac.Plugged inn and immediately recognized, by all operating systems.connected and used with Cisco, Soekrsi, and and other embedded devices.
I miss the serial-ports on my computers.
If you are looking for a USB to serial this will probably make it work for you. I't worked for me.

Works greatPlug & PlayGreat compatibilityCorrect priceCable has a good sizeThe product seems robust
Product tried on Windows 7 64 bits, after I plugged it, the driver was automatically installed and the device was recognized as a serial port, it means all applications will work because they trust you are using a normal serial port, not a USB one
If your computer doesn't have a serial port, this product will allow you to connect your device whatsoever; the build quality is good but if you look carefully, you'll see small thin plastic parts uncut (not easily noticeable and easy to remove).I would highly recommend it to you especially when you see the low price.

    - It's really cheap compared to other similar products.- Works as intended (tested with several devices)- It's really small and easy to fit in cases
Tested it with several microcontrolers (arduino, raspberri pi, HC12, i.mx233). Works great as a console in/out to any device.
It's a great product for what it costs. It works as intended. The build quality might not be the best, but if you are careful you should have no problem. I'll be buying one more just to have it as a spare one though since they are so cheap.

Works out of the box on linux (not tesed on windows, sorry)The colored cables makes it easy to follow the connexions from the labels on the pcb to the other ends. Two available power supply 5V and 3.3V for maximum compatibility !
The header are folded so you can plug it on your barebord direclty and use an USB cable. They could have included a short USB Cable... but it woudn't be that cheap then...
Nice to have, don't miss it !

First of all, this adapter is based on the Prolific PL-2303HXD (HX Revision D.) chip. Native Prolific drivers install and work fine with this thing and the "checkchipversion.exe" software bundled with the Prolific drivers identifies this as PL-2303HXD.I tested it by connecting via console line to Mikrotik RB2011UAS and Cisco Catalyst 3550 with a Cisco rollover cable and both devices worked fine with this adapter.Famous brands' USB-RS232 adapters on Prolific chips costs generally about $100 and this thing costs 10 times less. Definitely buy it while it is still in stock.
I'm surprised there aren't any reviewes yet for this item. Definitely worth buying.
    Buy it!
