  • Excellent Microscope!

    - Extremely compact
    - Easy to focus
    - Bright LED light
    - Scale markings
    - Great for kids, too!
I really like this pocket microscope. It has scale markings from 0 to 1 mm in increments of 0.05 mm. It is excellent for looking at small things outside (I found bugs in some moss and lichen that were too small to see with the naked eye) and it is cool to see the textures of everyday objects up close. It is similar to microscopes I used in engineering labs for Brinell material hardness testing.
Small enough to carry in your pocket and looking at tiny things is very interesting. It would be fun for kids, too (kids old enough to be interested and not eat the batteries).
    Good buy.
  • Not bad choice at this price!

Very bright light-emitting diodes and compact dimensions!Convenient design!
Normal use requires support completion under a microscope!
Cheap but good!Well approaches for examining of small inscriptions and subjects, but it isn't so convenient to use for the soldering of smd of components (small focal length of 5 - 20 mm)
  • great product loads of fun

I love it, it is much more powerful than I expected. The inbuilt lights work well and it has a dimmer that allows adjustment of the light which is helpful. The arm is sturdy and the base is heavily weighted for stability. It can be used without the base and arm as a standalone unit which is in my opinion and added benefit, it enables you to look at samples or things that would be impossible to inspect with a conventional microscope.
  • Works, cheap, fun

It's cheap and it works straight out of the box. The free-standing form makes it possible to peer into places you couldn't get a traditional bench-top microscope. The built-in LED illumination is very convenient.
I compared the magnification and resolution I get using this microscope against what is possible using the macro zoom of my Panasonic Lumix TS2 camera. The macro zoom of the TS2 provides almost the same magnification, at much better resolution and color. Of course, it costs about 10x as much as this USB microscope. And you can't stick it in your mouth to get pictures of your fillings like you can with the microscope.
Fun toy that might come in handy some time. You might as well get one.
  • Does not work with Mac OX

Decent quality image with Windows. Seems to provide fairly sharp images. Capture camera is a nice feature.
Really needed it for my Mac, didn't want to open Windows 7 on my mac every time I want to use it. There is a 5mp version of the same scope on another site for $79, and it does work with Mac.
