  • Good performance, but overheats

    posted by mdcool

High speed, 3 ports, easy to install and use. Installed once - use forever.
    Nothing specific.
Good useful device. Hopefully, cons will be insignificant, otherwise I will have to order another one.
  • Perfect 3.0 card adapter

I got the AKE 54mm Express Card to 2-Port USB 3.0 Card Adapter last week, installed the driver, plugged it in (win7) my Dell E6400 and it worked. Two 3.0 ports.
Nothing for the price it is perfect. Got it in three weeks, packaging was undamaged.
Get the AKE 54mm Express Card to 2-Port USB 3.0 Card Adapter if you need this sort of expansion
  • Very good Product!!

Installs eaasily. Provided drivers work. It is cheap and very useful for the new USB 3.0 ports. I used it in Win7 x64 without any problem.Very good product for the price that comes.extremely fast and good built quality.Plug and play just needing a power supply to it. Uses the old style power plug and not the news ones like the ones used by the SATA drives.
This is a very good product at a great price and works fine. Does what it has to do!!Best price for 4 ports on Deals Extreme. If you have an available PCI-E x1 slot on your motherboard, and need an affordable upgrade to USB 3.0 with a decent amount of ports, then get this!
This is a very good product at a great price that installs easliy in Windows 7 and works fine.
  • Can work with Windows 7

    posted by jtrosario

This controller card can be made to work with Windows 7 if you have the right drivers. And they do exist. I was then able to install Windows 7 as a new install onto a new SSD connected to this Silicon Image 4-Port PCI Expansion Card, also known as Silicon Image 3114.
Go get the drivers from Silicon Image here:http://www.siliconimage.com/support/searchresults.aspx?pid=28&cat=3Product Searched for: SiI3114 - PCI to 4 Port SATA150driver: SiI3114 32-bit Windows SATARAID5 Driver - 2/9/2010 - ver ORdriver: SiI3114 64-bit Windows 7 SATARAID5 Driver - 2/9/2010 - ver I burned these files onto a CD and chose "Load Driver". It then scanned and found si3114r5.inf, after clicking Next, choose Refresh. You will then see a message "Windows cannot be installed to... and/or Error 0x8030001 Simply swap the driver CD out and place the Windows 7 Installation disc back in and try again and then installation will continue from there. You could also choose to install the drivers from a USB drive.
Get the above drivers and a clean installation of WIndows 7 is a breeze with this card.
  • Very good extension

    posted by cyriusbe

A simple extension port so being able to put a good e-sata ici-box and samsung spint spoint 1T0 at inernal speed. Mainly for backup ! (90mb/s measured external, 96mb/s on internal motherboard chipset).
    I've keep 1 internal for a dvd-writer.
E-Sata is "hot swap", so switching on disk after boot is ok, correctly detected by win 7 :-). And ejecting + off is also as easy ;-).
Was fearing a bit to pt it in my pc, but all internal sata were full and my external sata of my mother board (p6t deluxe) is simply making things bad. this lil thing solved it all :-)
