  • Not as advertised, but cheap!

Price is cheap, small dongle is nice and compact. Nice addition of a COM port to a PC or laptop without one.
This device uses the PL2303 chipset. I don't know if the inability of the faster than 115200 baud rates is an issue with the driver or the chipset. USB cable length is a big issue.
For high performance devices, it's best to look for a device using the FTDI chipset. These have a larger Tx/Rx buffer, and are known to function at at least 460800 baud.
If you don't need anything faster than 115200, and don't plan on putting it on a USB cable longer than a few feet, then it's fine. This is a cheap device. Don't expect high quality or high performance.
  • Very useful. A must-have for all those who play with electronics.

    - Compact design.- Can be powered with a USB cable.- Works with 5V or with 3.3V.- Power, RX and TX LEDs.- Comes with a 4-pin header cable.- Pins are labelled.
Based on the well-known MAX3232 chip.Don't get messed up with the RXD and TXD pins. The pin labelled RXD is the RXD of the RS-232 side, so it must be connected to the TXD of your TTL device, and vice versa. You may also be interested by these SKU:104325, 146784, 144192, 148963, 149589, 81872, and 101483.104325 seems identical to this one, but costs one dollar less. Maybe you should buy 104325 instead of this one.
Works fine.Everybody who deal with electronics should have one of these adapters. Can be used for example to flash routers which have a TTL serial port on their PCB, or to connect your computer to microcontrollers, etc.
  • Works fine

Works greatPlug & PlayGreat compatibilityCorrect priceCable has a good sizeThe product seems robust
Product tried on Windows 7 64 bits, after I plugged it, the driver was automatically installed and the device was recognized as a serial port, it means all applications will work because they trust you are using a normal serial port, not a USB one
If your computer doesn't have a serial port, this product will allow you to connect your device whatsoever; the build quality is good but if you look carefully, you'll see small thin plastic parts uncut (not easily noticeable and easy to remove).I would highly recommend it to you especially when you see the low price.
