  • Fun and probably eductional

Easy software install on Windows XP, but I'm jealous because I didn't get the free virus on my disk like everyone else did.focus is adjustable via the thumbwheel. I'm guessing the button is to take a snapshot.Enough LEDs for good illumination.
Good fun! I'm thinking about getting a bunch for family nextChristmas, except for the Windows 7 install issue noted in another review.
I've got five bucks that says you look up your nose with it the first time you plug it in!
  • Great instrument for a very reasonable price

This microscope is a very easy to use tool. Just plug it in USB and you're ready for viewing. It has very handy light and focus adjustments, making it really quick to view anything. The fact it is handheld and displays the image on a computer screen makes is a big plus over traditional optical microscopes, where you have to stay curved over the target sample. The unit comes with a plastic ruler for calibrating the size of the viewed objects and the software for windows which comes with it allows you to measure the ruler and set a scale for pixes x mm, so you are able to measure the real size of the viewed objects at a given focus. It is TOTALLY LINUX COMPATIBLE (this is a BIG plus for me!). To use it under Linux just use the UVC webcam driver.
Great for anything from hobby to professional observations of small stuff.
Great tool for a very good price!
  • Not bad choice at this price!

Very bright light-emitting diodes and compact dimensions!Convenient design!
Normal use requires support completion under a microscope!
Cheap but good!Well approaches for examining of small inscriptions and subjects, but it isn't so convenient to use for the soldering of smd of components (small focal length of 5 - 20 mm)
  • Expensive, light and useful if you need it for work

Does not look cheap but not as expensive as it actually costs.Very light, might be a con for some!Great graphics.Works with Ubuntu!
Just ordered mini USB to female USB adaptor so I can try this with iPad 3 and Samsung note II. If this works then this microscope is officially mobile compatible. I can't imagine why it wouldn't , since most the iPhone / iPad series offers camera connection kit, which means the internal software should allow it to function like a camera attachment as soon as it is connected. But since I don't have a USB that can directly connect this to my mobile device, I have yet to test out this theory.
Will update once I receive my other orders in a month. If you need a relatively affordable picture capable microscope that is compatible with most platforms and doesn't look cheap, this would be it.
  • Does not work with Mac OX

Decent quality image with Windows. Seems to provide fairly sharp images. Capture camera is a nice feature.
Really needed it for my Mac, didn't want to open Windows 7 on my mac every time I want to use it. There is a 5mp version of the same scope on another site for $79, and it does work with Mac.
