  • Perfect ffor a DiY project

Suitable resistors are present on PCB.You just have to plug GND, 5V and to get the output.Embedded led is great to test in a standalone way.You do not need to be an expert to use it.
Distance between LED and photo-transistor is 10mm.A good opto-interrupter. You just have to think where you can use it in your projects.
I will certainly use it to count rpm in project where a motor will be involved.
  • fast update, precise value

Precise values reported, very fast update between consecutive queries. Less than 0.2 secs and device keeps returning values. Precise mounting, following manufacturer chip specs. Used in a Raspberry Pi connecting i2c ports.
Very goo thing, can use a couple to ensure faster updates.
Love it for your DIY projects.
  • Simple to use, Narrow ranged, 2-way Light sensor.

    posted by RonaldoKass

This sensor is very simple to use. Connect VCC (5V), GND and measure TTL high/low on the two digital outputs. Two trimpots allow you to configure the light sensitivity of each of the 2 channels, so that you can use that to measure two different levels of illumination. It is pretty well built.
Make sure the light source (area) is facing the top of the photodiodes sphere (not the sides).
    Easy to use, narrow ranged.
  • poor documentation, but works ok, and at least comes with a cable

Works in analog mode.Returns either 0 or 1 in digital mode.
I would like to see wavelength specific sensors, specifically red, orange, yellow, green and blue, so as to get some rudimentary means of measuring light spectrum.I will probably order a handful of these and install color filters that do not degrade in sunlight.
    worth the $4
  • Very easy to use

Really easy to use. Has both a digital and an analog output, which is really nice! The digital output threshold is controlled by a small screw.
I'm using 12 sensors for a laser harp. I was a bit worried about latency, but the response time on the digital outputs is really fast - there's no noticable latency at all when using the digital output.
There might be other options, but for me this worked perfect! The digital output was a winning argument when I bought this product.
