Great build, easy to setup and come exactly as advertised. It is increbly cheap compared to the stuff that is packed into this products
The position of the IDC cable connector forces you to put the cable on the same side of the display. Could be an inconvenience depending on the panel mount or enclosures.
    Great product! Thanks DX!
  • Great Voltmeter!

Small boardVery good solder -high quality surface mounted, I was amazed really!Useful range (4.5 - 30V is more than I will ever use)No additional power source needed.Low power consumption. There is a trimpot, and you can calibrate it when needed.PCB is very small, but you have two mounting holes on edges!
You can use it in in many many DIY projects, will fit anywhere!I am going to fix it to home emergency power supply unit.
I recommend buying this Voltmeter. Will work as expected.

It's functioning as a spectrometer when you power it : 2 buttons for changing color and line-mode, 2 has no apparent effect. The controller is 80C51 compatible, and there is a serial connector, so it's time for hacking !
    It must be powered with 1A, there are several chips on it : a 12C5A32 microcontroller, a DS1302Z serial RTC, a infrared receiver VS1838, 2quartz 30MHz & 32.768kHz, 2 74HC245D bus transceivers, a lithium cell, a PowerOn LED, 1 large 10V 470uF capa, 1 soldered 16pins connector + 2 unsoldered to drive 16x64 displays, 1serial connector (RX/TX), 1 4-pin connector (VCC,DAT,ND,GND).
So I think this will be a good board for hacking. I bought that instead of the bare LED 16x64 screen because of the microcontroller board for only a few more $$.

    Cheap, complete, reasonably designed
I cleaned up the pinout diagram a bit and used the only marker I saw on the backside as an orientation guide:http://pdf.thepdfportal.com/?id=169458
Would buy more if I had the time and energy to build a large-size LED display. If you will buy, remember to check out the alternative pinout diagram: http://pdf.thepdfportal.com/?id=169458
  • a good product.

it is the cheapest Mini 8 x 8 Red LED Display i have found. Other products similar like this costs at least 10 dollars. It is easy to use with your DIY projects with arduino or raspberry pi (or another). It works fine. A good product with a great price.
So you need a lot of wires to plug all the pins, i suggest you, to use a controller like the mcp23017 or something similar like this (with a only mcp23017 you can use both Mini 8 x 8 Red LED Display at the same time).
    none.
