Lets you charge while watching video on you TV. Decent price. Solid build quality. The price is less than a quarter of what local shops charge for the same connector. A good quick connector for showing some videos or photos off to people. No need to fight HDMI syncing issues or other hardware problem.
Shorter than I would prefer but good for carrying around to show friends pictures or whatever at a party.
I would recommend having one of these or something like it just for sharing videos or photos to friends and groups. Price is decent, this one is a good buy.
Best feature is it's price. It does what it's supposed to on my 3GS iOS 4.3.3. Video and sound quality is good, but don't expect HDMI. Tested on MxTube and CineXPlayer, works great. Was also able to plug into the standard iPhone charger to keep the iPhone charging while playing videos.
As noted, please read the earlier tips on how to enable your iPhone to use third-party video cables.
Useful and cheap, but provided it works for your combination of iPhone / iOS / re-supporting software.
- Plugs right in and works without any software or driver installation AND WITHOUT JAILBREAKING.- Displays iPad desktop on the monitor screen.- Plays music through the monitor/TV speakers while other apps are running.- Always keeps the display in the correct 'up' orientation now matter how the device is turned (switches from portrait to landscape to match the iDevice).- Slightly longer but same width 30-pin dock connector so if your regular sync cable connects while your iDevice is in its case, this will too.- Allows syncing with iTunes if connected to a PC.- Allows charging of an iPhone via PC or DC charger.- Allows charging of iPad when using the proper power adapter.
- Movies play with sound via HDMI, while on the screen it shows a message that the device is connected to an external monitor.- Some apps work well with sound through the monitor, some do not. Seems to be more how the app is written, so this is not in the Cons section.
I'm happy with the device, particularly that it has the short connection cable between my iPad and the HDMI adapter so it's easier to connect with the iPad in its case. I wish that I had known before that the USB to mini USB cable connection would always be required; I probably would have selected a different adapter.
-Works with non-firmware 3.0 Apple products. -Cable feels good, seems good quality (especially for this price) USB-syncing works with this cable.
Sucks that Apple put some kind of authentication in its cables. Sure, they want to earn big bucks with their 45 euro cables in their app-store.
Works great, if you haven't updated to firmware 3.0 atleast! All fields aded together, your review does not contain more than 500 characters. All fields aded together, your review does not contain more than 500 characters.
I can confirm this cables is working with iPhone 3GS 4.01 for audio/video/charging. Video requires REQUIRES jailbreaking and installing Resupported4 or other video out enabling hacks. This cable will NOT work out of the box on a non-jailbroken iPhone - this is Apple's fault not the cable's. Apple started disabling cheap cables by requiring an ID chip in the cable - all to make you spend $50+ instead of $5 for a cable. I tested video out with the built in camera/video player, Vevo and Netflix.
Would be nice to find a cheap DX Component or VGA out cable or chip ID cable for the same price.
