  • Build quality is excellent

    - Build quality is excellent for such a small adapter.
    - Very useful and work exactly as advertised.
    - Be gentle with this small adapter.
I ordered this "CF to Toshiba 1.8-inch IDE Hard Drive Converter" to replace the hard disk of my "Rockboxed" iRiver HP-120 with a Compact Flash card. It works like a champ, no more moving parts in my iRiver!!!
  • The best such adapter so far

Works well, fast enough. Both hdparm and smartctl are able to talk to the drive through this adapter, so you can control spin-down time and drive temperature.
When my 3.5" drive is not spinning, the power brick uses a bit more than 2W.
As close to an esata connection as I have found (for those cases where esata is not an option).

The SATA II to IDE adapter is very useful for those who have systems (laptops, PC's) does not have SATA capability on the motherboard. So this is the most cost effective solution for using newer technologies. In our country there is hard to find old and good IDE drives for laptops and new ones is enormous expensive, so you can just buy this adapter and use sata hdd's 2,5'' or 3.5''. Actually you will need additional power supply for some of them.
    Nice solution.
Good solution for such price, but could be cheaper.
  • It works, works, works

It's small, it works very well, it's got a built in LED status light. The price is cheaper than I could find anywhere for something like this
Some people wonder why you would use this. Most laptops, where you typically find 44pin 2.5" drives, don't usually have room for these adapters. The true use, though, is in embedded systems that utilize these drives. If you need one you know that though.
  • Did the job

    - The price, of course. You get the adapter and two cables (For Toshiba and, I believe, Hitachi drives)
    - When it works, it does exactly what it's supposed to.
My second purchase worked like a charm to upgrade my Gigabeat F series MP3 player 50 pin drive to a ZIF-based drive.
Assuming you don't get a dud, it does exactly what it's supposed to.
