With this case, you can put another HDD on your notebook. An excellent choice for whose that w'd like to install a primary SSD disk for operaing system and a second drive as a storage.Considering that notebook normaly don't have more than one standard SATA connector, there`s a great idea to replace the DVD drive by this case.
A great alternative to install more than one HDD or SSD on a notebook.

  • Works on a ASUS A52J

Everything. For the ASUS A52:Just remove the screws (one is accesible right from the bottom of the computer, the other is hidden behind a lid in the bottom, you will have to unscrew 6+ screws) and remove the optical drive. insert the 2.5" disk and just slip everything in the hole. I just used one screw to secure the caddy, the one accessible right from the bottom, and that's enough.
It has a blue led always on, and slightly brighter wne accessing the drive.
Very good buy, I already ordered another one for another computer.

Affordable (compared to 3-5x the price elsewhere!) Easy to open package.Used it to add more storage capacity on a sony vaio laptop that has an ssd drive
If you want to add another harddrive or SSD to your laptop with a 9.5mm optical bay, this caddy is that you need. Be sure to check the measurements before ordering!would buy many more when neededyou have to know about computers to instal it

  • Fits Dell Inspirion 15R Special Edition (7520)

Fits perfectly Dell Inspirion 15R Special Edition (7520). Easy to install. The 4 screws keeps the HDD in place without move, even if you just use 2 screws.
Worth the price, not expensive for it purpose. Also, take care when remove the front of the DVD Drive, because you can easily break the plastic piece that keeps the front attached to the drive, and if you do so, you will need to glue the front to the Drive or to the caddy. I broke one of the 3 pieces that holds the front, I was lucky was just one.

  • Broken 2.5' IDE HDD? Solution:HDD caddy!

    posted by pcmihnea

Unfortunately, after serving me for more than 8 years, my Fujitsu-Siemens S7010's IDE HDD finnaly cracked. There were many solution to my problem: IDE to SD-card, IDE to CF-card, SDD, USB flash, etc. But by far the ceapest (for me) was this: a SATA caddy! By chance I had a SATA HDD to spare, while a IDE one is very hard (and expensive!) to buy. It uses a Marvell 88SA8040 IDE to SATA 1.5GBps bridge Controller. Thus, the theoretical maximum speed is about 150MB/s (pretty decent).
It's extremely easy to install (I mean, the instructions are drawn directly on the product). The package contained 5 screws (you only need 4, but in case you lose one, they gave you a spare)
This is by far the most convenient method of reviving an old laptop with a broken HDD. Just be sure to pick the right size (9,5mm or 12,7mm)!
