    - turns on fast (no delay)- good quantity of light
I'll try to exchange the lens of this sku with the one of the other sku which has the lens a bit blurry, it should remove the focused spot.
focused spot light, working in my house 3h/day since a month. till now everything ok
  • Excellent replacement for halogens

    posted by ukexile

Brought two of these as a trial to assess output of a 5W LED compared to existing halogens before buying whole downlight assmeblies for entire house. Fitted these into exisitng downlight and I'm impressed. Output is very similar if not exactly same as existing 50W halogen. Colour is whiter so not quite as warm as the yellow/orange halogen however light level is good
Build quality appears good. Only veyr minor defects in heatsink fins. Very minor though.
These are sufficent to confirm I'll be ok using 5W LEDs throughout house. Based on these I will now be selcting whole downlight units to purchase
  • One of the best LED bulbs I've ever seen

Great light, spread, color, temperature and brightness. Economical, good looking, fits most GU10 exposed bulb applications (see Cons)
One of the best LED bulbs I've ever bought.
Caveat emptor, if the cons are not an issue for you (as they weren't for my particular use), this can be the best LED light bulb you will ever buy! Great value for your money!
  • Getting close to a 50W halogen

    posted by trevbozo

I have been buying more powerful LED's every time DX lists them. I started with the 3W candle, then the 4W, which wasn't bad, but less floody. Now this 5 watter is getting very close to the performance of a 50W halogen. I've replaced 2 50W halogens in a galley style kitchen with 3 of these 5 watters, and I now have more light in that area. The entire kitchen bench is well lit, with spill onto the surrounding cupboards. The diffusers work well to spread the light. Colour is a little cool, but I'll get used to it. Build seems good.
When grouped in a smallish area, these lights are great. For a larger living area with only 4 or 6 lights, I'd be inclined to try the new 9 watters. These would work well in a long hallway, as they're more floody than other LED's, and will light the area more evenly.
Still not at the brightness level of a 50W halogen, but close. If you're thinking of changing from 12V halogens to LED, throw away those troublesome transformers and give some of these a go. At ten bucks, they are certainly affordable enough to try, as opposed to the same thing for $50 in the Australian lighting shops.
  • Look very Good

Compact and good warm light color, better than most. It is truly a warm very very slightly yellow light.
I really hope that they last longer than all of the other LED Spots that I have bought here, none of them lasted longer than a few months :-(.
Too early to be certain but at first glance they look good.
