  • Good performance, but overheats

    posted by mdcool

High speed, 3 ports, easy to install and use. Installed once - use forever.
    Nothing specific.
Good useful device. Hopefully, cons will be insignificant, otherwise I will have to order another one.
  • Simple and work as expected

Small, comes with metal cover, does what suppose to do (adds two SATA III ports). Windows 7 64-bits recognizes automatically, but is better if you install ASMEDIA 106x latest drivers (google it).
If you uses the drivers that came in the provided CD, it has a XLS file listing the drivers for each folder/hardware.It comes with low profile bracket, could be usefull for small desktops like Dell computers with DT casing.
It does what supposes to do, it is good for who needs to add more SATA ports or adding SATA III support.
  • Delivers what promised

Easy to set up and install, no configuration necessary. Achieved maximum speeds with my Kingston DataTraveler HyperX 3.0 (~250 MB/s read/150 MB/s write)
I didn't even try the driver CD based on previous feedbacks. The drivers can be easily found by searching "Via VL800". The last one is only a couple of months old, so no use for the CD anyway.
Cheap, fast USB 3.0 controller with ports for rear and front panel
  • Very good extension

    posted by cyriusbe

A simple extension port so being able to put a good e-sata ici-box and samsung spint spoint 1T0 at inernal speed. Mainly for backup ! (90mb/s measured external, 96mb/s on internal motherboard chipset).
    I've keep 1 internal for a dvd-writer.
E-Sata is "hot swap", so switching on disk after boot is ok, correctly detected by win 7 :-). And ejecting + off is also as easy ;-).
Was fearing a bit to pt it in my pc, but all internal sata were full and my external sata of my mother board (p6t deluxe) is simply making things bad. this lil thing solved it all :-)
  • Driver cd inreadeable but card OK

    posted by mcgyver75

-Card works fine though the usb3 socket seems a bit tiny.
-21 seconds to send a 1gb file to a generic USB3 enclosure for esata HDD. (52 sec on USB2, 180sec with usb3 bad driver)
Finaly, it appears that chip inside is a fresco one and Michael Ballack, amazon consumer, gives the best link in comments to find the latest drivers (2011 april). Thanks to him.
Good product if have time to search for drivers on the internet and practise english.
