  • Very good extension

    posted by cyriusbe

    A simple extension port so being able to put a good e-sata ici-box and samsung spint spoint 1T0 at inernal speed. Mainly for backup ! (90mb/s measured external, 96mb/s on internal motherboard chipset).
    I've keep 1 internal for a dvd-writer.
    E-Sata is "hot swap", so switching on disk after boot is ok, correctly detected by win 7 :-). And ejecting + off is also as easy ;-).
    Was fearing a bit to pt it in my pc, but all internal sata were full and my external sata of my mother board (p6t deluxe) is simply making things bad. this lil thing solved it all :-)
  • Decent SATA Expansion PCI-E card

    posted by mmany2

    * Small size
    * 4 SATA connectors (you can't use them all at the same time, but still, 4 connectors)
    * Works in Windows Vista 32-bit and 64-bit (tested with Ultimate edition)
    * RAID
    * No driver issues with multiple connected SATA-chipsets in the same machine. I have SATA chipsets from VIA, ICH and now SlI all running at the same time with devices attached to them.
    Only real downside on this card is that I don't use a bootable HDD with the card, so I have to mess around during bootup, but it's not really that big of a problem.
    A really cheap RAID PCI-E Expansion card that is also bootable. The PCI-E connection makes it quite fast... faster than regular PCI cards with SATA chipset(s). If you're short on SATA-slots and you want more harddrives connected to your PC, I recommend buying this.
  • Must have adapter for suited laptop

    posted by peoplecanfly

    Works for any operating system on notebook with 54mm express card slot. Driver CD is included but I didn't needed any with Windows 7.
    The card runs hot during use (especially, in my laptop, because it's plugs in on top of my hard drive). When using with two external hard drives, the battery life gets reduced. Need to hold the card itself when pluging or unpluging it, to avoid damaging the card.
    You could use fast external drive as boot drive, or a couple of hardrives as a storage for your laptop with this express card.

    As mentioned in my earlier review, the USB3 port works seamlessly in GNU/Linux, with hotplugging of both the USB device and the card itself.
    Still haven't tried the eSata port.
    Not perfect, but still very handy.
  • Bootable Sata iii PCI-e card

    Is Bootable fromCheap
    Fortunately I read reviews before ordering and had the updated drivers ready and waiting for delivery.I was worried about whether at such a low price if the card was bootable, but no worries there.Just make sure to not connect drives to the card until the driver (updated version) has been installed - In other words, connect card, install drivers, close down system and connect bootable drives, and you should be good to go.
    Slowish delivery, but despatch from China probably keeps the prices low....All in all, excellent value.
