  • Great DIY repair for singe AA flashlights

    posted by QBranch

Great to have around for repair of small single AA flashlights. I have four HUGSBY P31 lights (sku: 35078) and unfortunately 3 have failed. Found out that the emitter and switch are fine, so it must be the emitter board. So I found these on DX and ordered 5. These fixed all 3 of my P31 lights. BUT be aware that 2 of the 5 sent were 3 mode boards (Hi-Lo-Flash) and 3 were 1 mode (Off-On). The SKU stickers on the zip baggies were identical (128096). Note that the black boards with a larger baggies were 3 mode and the green boards with small baggies were 1 mode.
Items got sent in a bubble mailer envelope and 1 emiiter got smashed.
Great DIY repair board and to have some around for spare.
  • Not 2500-3000ma.

Price is good. Size is very small and easy to fit into lots of housings. Seems decently built
Wish it was a true 3.0a. Wires could also be a tad thicker. Other then that, for the money its it seems to be a decent driver capable of good light output. The 2 lifhts I have built are plenty bright for fast trail riding. I still wish they would run at the true 3 amp as advertised
Good product, but not near rated output. Spending more money may get you more output but who know in this dayand age.

This regulator drive out fairly steadily 1.4 amps. in max. mode.Exactly: 1.35 in high mode, 0.4 in middle, 0.6 in low (fluctuating in sos and fast strobe modes).I have put it, working together with a 16 mm alu base Cree R5 led in my Trustfire TR-801, and it bright now 25%-30% more than the original Cree Q5 led, giving a really flood light!According Cree data sheets, Cree R5 can hold up 1,5 mA, so this regulated circuit is perfect to this led. Other drivers that can only drive up 1000 Ma, will give 25% less light tan this.
    I recommend it
  • Good DIY flashlight

    posted by Patrik28

    - Excellent appearance/quality (so far the best of my three earlier C2 models)- Threads + fittings are in quite good tolerance (only the pill rattled a little)- Can be customized with 14 mm silicone caps, SKU: 5498- Included almost every part but...
    - The switch was reverse clicky-type. I would like more forward-type.- Finding the right depth of the pill was little tricky, because the pill pushes the emitter against the reflector. If the pill is screwed too deep, the reflector won't press the lens tightly against O-ring. And too high pill will probably break the emitter if you screw the headring by force.
In my case, the missing brass-ring didn't disturb, because I took a compelete pill from a broken C2 flashlight. This was a perfect spare part, despite that the complete flashlight are only few dollars higher. Therefore I only recommend this for spare parts.
  • Great DYI kit

    posted by gearhounds

Very nice kit, tightly machined threads with no sloppy looseness, clean even finish, all O-rings included. Threads are bright and free of anodizing where necessary for maximum electrical conduction. Truly only need a driver and emitter to get going. Great mass for heat sinking. Basically an Aurora V6 (sku 12346) which only comes with a P4 emitter. No lettering which makes this light look really sharp.
The pill is set up to accomodate a 14mm emitter and a 16mm driver. I assembled mine with sku 1885 emitter which required some dremel work on the brass fit ring and Q5 emitter sku 11023 which was a direct fit. The result is an excellent thrower considering it is a straight walled pocket light running off just a 18650 battery.
A great bargain on a well made set of parts and worth the investment. A fun project for beginners and pros alike. An added OP reflector would really round out this kit. Now if DX could only set up a DIY kit for sku 12343 I would be set.
