  • Cheap useful DC-DC for DIY

Cheap, small, enough powerful DC-DC convertor that is suitable for DIY projects. You can achieve up to 2A continuous current with additional heatsink.
I use it for EeePC 1001P 24V charger (EeePC consumes 18V ~2A; DC-DC consumes 1.5A 25V); I placed it on heatsink from Asus NForce3 (by 2 screws); now I have +72C on heatsink and higher than 80C on coil at the table after 10 minutes. Not so bad, but I expected higher efficiency.
Cheap and useful device, without big cons at it's price. It's cheaper than single IC when you buy 10+ pcs.
  • Nice stepdown DC converter

A small PC wich has the advantage to set fixed voltages wich become handy in Ohm-resistant situation if you want to get a good controll over the current. The dipswitch works good if you know how to handle it.
This last point can be solved by giving a firm overvoltage (within the range of the converter)Because the energyconversion is high efficient, these units are much better than the 78XX (or 79XX)wich converts overvoltage only in thermal enery (they become hot )These kind of converters do normaly not use extra cooling (convection is enough) unless the differece beween input and output volage is big and/or the current, drawn from the converter reacht to the maximum, it is no good idea to rely on the thermal/current protection, other parts or instability can be damaged, capacators (elco's) have a much shorter shelflife when they heat up, their value changes above the limits and they can ruin anythingin line of it....
Not the cheapest and not the smallest DX converter but certainly one of the most reliable....
  • Works for me

Cheaper than building it myself here... Since where I live the components are not common.
    Could be cheaper, maybe?
It is compact and exactly what I needed to have my internet router working on batteries in case of power shutdown! It even has a LED that I find useful to know if it is actually working and I didn't know it had it.Got it encased and mounted in 10 minutes. The other one I made myself took me more than a week since I had to build my own cooper coils, and a generic circuit board because nobody sells them here.

Well priced , good looking unit . Easy to fit into Trucks , Diggers and larger vehicles .
Good construction , mounting can be done with a cable tie . Mounting holes too close to unit to be able to drill .
Needs fusing on 24 volts input and 12 volts output I think that the unit should come with 10 amp fuses and holders . Cost would be more but worth doing and paying for .

Great piece. Quite useful. Not possible to build one, using ordinary 7805, cables and a USB socket. Works fine, but I have not tested it running to the current limits. Great for installation in cars, DIY projects and of course, for connecting any USB powered device.
    I have no other thoughts.
Good to buy. Nothing special needed for installation.
