  • An OK universal flashlight

    posted by liubartas

18650 or AAA batteries can be used, it looks OK. It is rather easy to go from square spot to spill. It can tailstand. It is suitable for bicycle riding but you may want to consider other flaslights as it loses light having no reflector.Otherwise an OK/good piece of manufacturing. My light dropped on stones after lanyard broke, which resulted maybe in a couple of small specs on the body but one has really search for them and there was no effect on function.
It has no hotspot. The spill is even with a couple of ligt rings outside but they are negligable. It has no reflector, so much light is lost when in spot mode.I has, IMHO, a simple plastic lens, no fancy coatings whatsoever. The High mode draws up to 2.05 A (at least - my DMM probably is an average and may not be very accurate). Middle mode is about 0.8A, Low is 0.03 (mostly on my DMM), rarely it can get to 0.14A. I tried to get stable measurement but sometimes it is just brighter than usually.Head does not get hot or even warm after half an hour so it may really not take 2.8A current and/or heatsinking is not that good.It has an O ring at the tail but no on the front.Threads on the tail are pretty shallow and are not square but worked fine for me.
It is a bright light after my ~5 y. old one, it is good for riding a bicycle if you do not require hotspot or correctly working memmory. Middle mode has OK/satisfacory light levels for riding, and High mode is more comfortable. Low could be used too in darkness but it would force you into rather slow ride. A light with reflector will not be as adjustable but may throw more light and not just absorb it.
  • Excellent very bright Flashlight

Building quality of this product is really good. Metal body (think aluminium).Easy to disassemble and assemble again.on/off button work perfect.BEAM is very very strong (do not look directly) Splash resistant for sure, I test it (heavy rain on bicycle). My mainly usage is like bicycle light, underground activities, hiking and camping.Sleeve is strong good material its look like I will use it for a long time.Charger is ok but can be better quality, for now work fine.
When you holding on/off button, its behave like potentiometer and you can adjust brightness of the flashlight that you wish. Battery that coming with flashlight is ok, but diference is visible when I put 3800mAh battery instead 2200mAh (work fine and with 2200mAh).
In short word:- strong beam- good build quality - good material - sleeve good look and good quality- advice buy reserve 18650 battery (least 3800MAh)
  • Headlamp a must for handy man

    posted by Arabianfox

I usually work in my small garden where I use this headlamp to check for insects and some times look for any sesease infecting fruits or leaves. Very strong luminosity and powerful light gives over 500lm. Easy to wear on head or cap. last longer. Charging doen't take long and charge remains longer time.
No other faults it has. Very useful device and can be used places where you don't find light easily or requires hands free.
    Nothing to mention.
  • Great Wide mode, and Zoom

    posted by rfdude

Appears to be of a higher quality caliber. Well balanced. Fits well. Easy to operate light switch, adjustable angle and zoom. Very wide and consistent light across the spot. No dark spots or rings when in the wide mode. Best Suited for close-in work (which is why a headlamp is usually needed). Long throw zoom is available if required.
At 5 meters in the most narrow spot mode, it is 280 Lux and a 75 cm wide square. At low power mode, the brightness drops to 156 Lux. At 1 meter at high power and using the widest zoom, it is 89 Lux. Low power is 45 Lux. Consistent brightness across the wide spot. The low mode seems to be half power brightness. From my eye, I thought I'd prefer a 25-33% brightness level to prolong battery life where required, or a third low setting. However, 2 x 18650 battery probably make this a mute point.
Appears to be best value for a universal headlight that is best suited as a close-in work light, but still has a reasonable long throw when required.
  • XM-L T6 - in a small Pocket-EDC - Love It ! !

    posted by hurupthy2010

The XM-L T6 emitter ussually have a more proper place of use in a great number of 18650-powered Flashlights and this SF-117B then, of Course, requires an absolute need of a 14500 Lithium to reach Your Satisfaction and only then the true power of this SUPERB EDC Pocket-device will show.An ordinary AA in the SF-117B simply will not be able to properly fire up the XM-L T6 - MEGA-emitter = lots of light.Several/many other AA/14500 just don´t seem to have the same loss of power (e.g similar designed S08-8 - so far my BEST at the price).SF-117B does not even heat up the way You always experience running most 14500-powered.Machining is PERFECT..
You may find other, perhaps (for sure!!) a lot smaller lumen-rated similar lights in this specific design, able to be at least as - or even more bright BUT here keep in Mind: The XM-L T6 emitter typically is appx 4-times area of most other and - this incredible AMOUNT of Light then becomes HUGE from zero-appx 100mtrs only provided by lens and, I think, an almost pure emitter-power Light....
Don´t even bother considering a 18650, unless anyway if You´re a Flashlight Freak so - if You are not in need of a 24-hour run-time.If You need 1-mode only This is what You need - and perhaps not even consider other.RECOMMENDED - running 14500 for full range use.Perfect Job Done having a go building this design with an XM-L T6... Buy - Buy - Buy...!!!
