  • Works very well with XM-L

    posted by ujda7

Works very well with Cree XM-L, brightness is a little weaker than the brightness of my Jetbeam RRT2 R5 (350lm), although based on the maximum current the XM-L brightness should be somewhere around 450lm. Heat is acceptable, PMW flashing is also not visible. It also does not alter the original color temperature of the XM-L LED.
The reason I bought this is because the flashlight SKU55241 (UltraFire WF-501B XM-LT6 ) I bought was not working. I bought this to replace my WF-501B's original circuit board. Original one claimed can reach around 450lm. But the XML LED brightness powered by this board is almost identical to the original, while the heat generated is greatly reduced.
At least it works very well.
  • Quite decent. Does what it says

Drives over 2,5 amp. Pieces look quite sturdy so it should last some good time.Good voltage input range. Using it on a vehicle for offroad light, so up to 18volts looks fine.At 12 volts and less it drives 2 series XM-L, possibly 3Get hot, but does not get *too* hot3 modes... I'd count it as a Con, but it is what I've bought, and already worked that around.
    none at the moment...
Works well, check it first, put sturdy wires.Good solid circuit for your mods.
  • Surpasses expectations.

This is a wonderful boost circuit to drive three LED's from a 7.2V source (6 Nixx or 2 Li-ion). It has three modes: high, low, and fast strobe. Low mode current is about 25% of the high mode current, and it doesn't flicker. Strobe is very fast, I'm guessing 4 to 5 flashes per second. It has good efficiency for a boost circuit. Here are my measurements on high:Vin=7.1V Iin=1.6AVout=11.2V Iout=0.84AEfficiency=83%
My measurements actually agree with DX's posted specs. This is a pleasant surprise.I am using this with the tri-led housing sku 15084 and three Seoul P4 LED's. My plan is to use it as a bike light.
This is the driver to get for your 3-LED projects powered by 7.2V batteries!
  • 3-mode LED Driver

    +Small diameter+Quality PC board;+Good looking:)+Well soldered;+Accurate specifications;+Comes with soldered wires;+Good efficiency;+Good diameter for most 1AA flashlights;
Can be sanded to smaller diameter. With 2 AA batteries the modes work perfect, bright enough and the strobe is very good(not too fast). It's perfect tactical led driver.Always starts on High,Medium is very good and the strobe is excellent.Watch my video!
Will be good if the board works properly at low voltage-1AA flashlights are more popular than the 2AA flashlights.Probably works well with CR123 batteries 3V.
  • Tiny, powerful little driver

    posted by mervin82

Really tiny driver, with sufficient output to drive a cree XPC or XPG with 1.5v AAA battery. Can be used with a 10450 battery too.
The 3 mode board could be removed if you need to save space/don't need gimmicky flashing lights. Still will work, but with only the high power mode.
Great find on DX, will order more to mod more torches
